ACWF President Stresses the Role of Women, Women's Federations in COVID-19 Control, Economic and Social Development
February 28, 2020The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held a session on February 23 to study and implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at a meeting to advance coordination of prevention and control of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as the economic and social development given that same day.
In line with the spirit of General Secretary Xi's speech and the CPC Central Committee's decision and deployment, the women's federations at all levels should give full play to their advantages and strengthen their functions under the leadership of local CPC committees, Shen noted.
She urged the federations to further organize and mobilize women to join in the anti-virus battle based on their families and communities, and lead women to make contributions at their posts, to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, and to make unremitting efforts for work and production resumption in an orderly manner, in a bid to win the decisive battle against poverty and realize the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects.
Women's federations were urged to better care for female medical workers on the front line of the battle against the COVID-19, provide more of the heartwarming services they need and more thoughtful services for their families. Their touching stories of saving lives and treating patients should be promoted in a timely manner.
With a focus on family, women's federations were required to organize online family education courses, help parents guide their children to read, study and do exercise, and also encourage parents to do high-quality epidemic control work at home.
The federations were also required to take measures to further care for the pregnant, infants and disadvantaged children, including providing psychological counseling and comfort to people under quarantine at home and helping them overcome their difficulties.
